Getting Started

Whether you are a full-time student, a part-time working student, the first in your family to go to college, an older adult, right out of high school, or taking classes for personal interest, we are here to help you. It is our goal at MECC to prepare you for meaningful employment or for successful transfer to a four-year college or university.  The faculty and staff at MECC are here to help you become a successful college student. We encourage you to use the services and programs and seek out information that will assist you.

New Students

Have your class schedule available during the first week of classes. The classes you are registered to take are listed in the Student Information System, which you access through MyMECC. On the first day of class, be sure to have a printed or online copy of your class schedule handy so you’ll know the date, time, building and room number of your classes.  The letter which precedes the room number designates the building in which your class is held:  G=Godwin Hall, H=Holton Hall, D=Dalton-Cantrell Hall, P=Phillips-Taylor Hall, R=Robb Hall.

To access your student email, Canvas, and the Student Information System, visit MyMECC. MyMECC is located at the top right corner of the MECC homepage at yfq0.inside-japan.com.

Access Your MECC Email

To access your MECC Email, log in to MyMECC with your username and password, and select the “Gmail” link.

Access Canvas

Don’t worry if you do not see your credit classes listed in Canvas before the first day of class! Your class schedule in the VCCS Student Information System is considered your official list of credit classes for which you are registered. Access your schedule through MyMECC, and you’ll see all the classes for which you registered. Credit classes show up in Canvas either on the first day of the class or within 48 hours after registering.

Mountain Empire Community College recognizes that the safety of its students and employees on College property, or when engaged in college-authorized functions, is a fundamental responsibility. Faculty, Staff and students are encouraged to exercise proper care in using any apparatus, and in moving from one area to another.

The College further recognizes and is committed to providing a safe environment in the operation of all courses and College functions. Through the combined efforts of the Board, the administration, the faculty, staff, and students, the College’s Safety Program provides an “on-going” process to promote and reinforce safety regulations. A complete list of safety procedures is outlined in the MECC Lab Safety Policy Manual.
